My Approach
Method
My practice approach is grounded in an integrative, somatic, body-mind, and trauma informed framework. My methods support the perspective that you have an innate capacity to heal and to live a life that reflects your own inner wisdom. I prioritize providing a compassionate, safe, and regulating space for you, the conditions I feel we each need to heal and flourish. My sessions are informed by my core belief that acceptance, compassion, and empathy are the foundations to regulating emotions and creating healthy changes in our lives. My intention as your therapist is to provide an environment in which you can rediscover and learn to trust the wisdom of your inner voice.
Our sessions move beyond talk therapy approaches. Yoga and somatic trainings have taught me the essential need to regulate and attune to the wisdom of the body. I draw from somatic, mindfulness, empathic inquiry, interpersonal neurobiology, trauma informed, and attachment perspectives. When clinically useful, I integrate methodologies of EMDR, Brainspotting, Parts work, and other evidence based modalities to support your healing. Our work will be an integrative therapeutic process shaped by the uniqueness of your own healing path.
A Bit About Me
I have a deep passion for my practice as a therapist, and strongly believe in each person’s innate capacity for healing when offered a compassionate, safe, and regulating space to flourish. I have over 25 years of experience in educational settings, specializing in providing assessments, behavioral supports, and program development for preschool-school age students receiving special education. Since 2014, I have provided therapeutic support for individuals and families in both private and clinical settings. My background includes teaching master’s-level university courses in special education. In addition, I completed a 200-hour yoga teacher certification, and have experience teaching yoga in both studio and individual settings. This broad knowledge informs my work with you. My primary focus at this time is working individually with adults facing challenges related to anxiety, panic, prolonged stress, grief and loss, life transition, and trauma. I consider it a true honor and pleasure to support you in your unique healing journey.
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #100286) and a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #2765). Both licenses are held with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. I hold Master Level Degrees in Psychology and in Counseling, School Psychology.
